2009 Shinobi no Mono Stealth Camp!

video

Just last week we held the annual Shinobi no Mono Stealth Camp! Everyone had a great time and learned a lot! We trained in various areas of stealth such as stealth walking, Shinobi iri, inpo, tonpo, sentry removal, evasion, infiltration, extraction, military movement and team / unit missions.

We also trained in Kobujutsu and Taijutsu. In the Kobujutsu section of the camp we explored the kyoketsu shoge, kusarigama and the shuriken. These are all ancient weapons of the ninja that aided in various areas of warfare and deception! In the Taijutsu section of the camp we looked at hidden strikes within combat! We trained these methods looking from one of the kata from the Gyokko Ryu called "ichimonji no kata" from the Koshisanpo. This is a very basic kata, but as we started working we came up with many variations and henka of the feeling of this kata!

This video will be available on DVD exclusively in the International Ninjutsu Super Store! Log in at www.NinjutsuSuperstore.com If you are interested in training with the Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo log on to: www.BudoRyuNinjutsu.com for more information of the school, and the 7 warrior traditions that we dedicate our training too.

Thank you all for the support of the Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo. Without all of you none of this would ever be possible. With all of the support of the school it is clear that there are way more people that like to "train" in the arts and be good what what they do, than those that like to "talk" about the arts and be good about what they '"say". To all of you that beleive actions speak louder than words i wish you all well.

Take Care, Be Safe and Good Luck in your Journey of Budo!

Public Perception

This last weekend my family and I went to the Omaha Zoo, www.omahazoo.com this was a 3 hour road trip each way for us, but since we heard that the zoo was one of the best in the nation we wanted to take our daughter there and have a good time.

Once we finally got there we were walking up to the line to buy the tickets, as soon as we walked up these two women cut in front of us rather aggressively (they appeared to be mother and daughter; mother 60ish and daughter 40ish ). I did not say anything, because I had a feeling that the rest of their party was ahead of them and already in. I did notice that they were both starring at me and when I turned to look back that they would just turn away. I did not think anything of this, just took it as is and went on about my business.

Once we got inside, my daughter said that she had to go the bathroom, so both of us when to the girls room, I had to go also. While we were in the bathroom, these women walked in and they were talking, I do not think that they knew that I was in the stall right next to them. They said something like:

#1 said - "Did you see that tall woman with her daughter? She was built like steel, she had muscles everywhere"

#2 said - "Yeah did you see the Chinese writing on her arm, she probably knows karate or something, yeah you can tell she can kick butt"

I stood there listening as my 4 year old daughter was going the bathroom and was thinking do I walk out? I don't want to embarrass them,..We walked out. As we were washing our hands the ladies walked up and asked how much I trained and such, I just said as much as I can, answered a few questions and went on about my business. When you hear those things it is nice to feel that people think that you are in good shape.

We went on to look at the zoo and had a great time, as we were going into the "CAT COMPLEX" there were these 4 boys / young men. They were around 18-22 years of age. As I walked by I overheard one of them say "Hey did you see her, that is that Ninja Girl" another one of them said something about our videos, not for sure, I was walking away but i do know that the tone was positive. Here I am, dressed in Jean shorts and a tank top, I am in a different state from where I live and people know "Anshu". I was shocked, I mean I have been in public in different states and places and people ask if I am "Anshu" but I was at the zoo, not at a martial art event. It amazed me at the perception of the them as I walked around, it was clear that they were walking and getting the courage to say something to me,..

"Come on, I am trained in tracking, it was very clear that they boys wanted to say hi, just did not know how to make the approach. "

So we left the CAT CORNER and when into the GORILLA VALLEY and I seen that they came in a few Min's after me, I walked up to the glass and looked at the gorillas and one of them walked up to me, I looked at him and said, this is a great zoo isn't it! So many things to see with so many people,..He looked right at me and if I could describe the look I would, lets just say he was smiling from ear to ear.

As I walked away I thought, ya know, even though I am just here to see the animals and have a good time with my family, to them though, they will remember seeing me and wanting to say something but just didn't. The ladies in the restroom will think that they need to get in shape. Every time that these things happen I am just amazed because I do not see myself in the same light. I am so easy to walk up to and say hi. I am a normal person who just teaches marital arts. I am so honored to have so many people know me, the school and what we do, it is amazing. I have access to help thousands of people all over the world and I am truly honored to being in this position. Perception is a funny thing, because each person has their own. In this these young men's perception of me was ANSHU,..but my daughters perception of me was MOM,..and my spouses perception of me was WIFE,..amazing how we all have a different "public perception".

I tell my students all of the time, with rank becomes responsibility. This rule holds true in all things. Take the word "rank" and replace it with "status" because they know who I am from the martial arts if I was rude, or I was dressed in appropriate that changes their perception and in turn may hinder them from reading this blog or seeing more of our videos, so with rank does become responsibility, because I chose this path, I have to be dedicated to helping as many that I can that want help, that is my responsibility.

If you take that word "rank" and replace it with "thin" or "fit". This again holds true, the ladies in the restroom now may be motivated to get more in shape, if you look at me it is clear that i am not in my 20's anymore. But to them I was "in shape" and wanted to ask questions about training.

IF I did not hold myself in a professional manner, than I would have missed out on the opportunity of making a positive moment in someones life that day, On that trip,..MOM, WIFE, ANSHU & CHRISTA (the personal trainer) helped give a positive moment in someones life. When you are in public, keep these thoughts, without ninjutsu training I would not have noticed the woman looking at me, I would not have paid attention to conversations around me, would not have noticed kids following me and so on and so on. All this comes from the understanding of the elements around you and being one with them. Also my ability to use the skill of Ninja no Kiai or ninja explosive energy or spirit aided in this. If anyone reads this thread use public places to gain control of these skills, make yourself better and make those around you better too,..be aware of yourself, your surroundings and your "public perception"

Take care, Be Safe and Good Luck in your Journey of Budo.
